I have done this by having a three meshes, a new mesh that is a solid for sections etc., a duplicate of the new mesh that is 1" thick on a hidden layer and an existing mesh that is only 1" thick. Next created two slabs that are the shape of the lot and the height of the entire slope. One slab is on a hidden cut layer and the other is on a hidden fill layer, then you do solid element operations on the two slabs. For cut have the slab SEO down to the new mesh (either one) and SEO the top of the slab to the bottom of the existing 1" mesh. For the Fill do the SEO on the fill slab down to the existing mesh and SEO up to the under side of the new 1" mesh.
These provide rough numbers. There can be a lot of extra cut for wall backfills and under slabs which can be a bit tedious to model.
Make sure the two slabs are on different layers or have different fills or some other feature that can be used to separate them in the Interactive Schedule.

i've worked out how to add fields to use custom text in, but its a bit long winded isnt it!

i must say, 90% of cad users i've worked with wouldnt be able to work things like that out.

just an observation

i have to type it into the schedule itself because the parameters within "properties" in the doors are not linked to the schedule properly.

whoever set the schedule up here did it very badly, it would take me a week to sort it out. having just started a new job (in the private sector), i dont have the luxury of being able to waste such time.

why dont archicad just set them properly by default?

where in work environment can i change the time setting? is it the one in dialogue boxes and pallettes?

also i need to add 3 things to the bottom of the list of the doors, anything i add it wont let me type anything into the fields.

why make it so difficult?

The scheduler works a charm once it's set up right.

Oh, if it is the time thing you are talking about on the text entry, you can increase the delay time in your work environment. I usually set it to 2.5 seconds.

I think he may be referring to the fact that when you type parameters into the objects that if you type slowly or take focus away from the object parameter entry box before you're done that it will overwrite your typing with the previous value. It's very annoying, particularly when your looking at a hard copy while typing the information in as it often requires you to memorize the data to ensure you enter it before it's cleared.

Don't enter data via the schedule -- select multiple doors and edit the listing parameters in the door settings dialog. I'm not sure what Autotext you're referring to.

my employer is insisting i use the absolutely sh1te door scheduling thing within archicad, it has just taken me 2 hours to enter the info for 1 door (i could have done the whole schedule in excel, or on a drawing board the old fashioned way by now).

is there a way to turn off the autotext when typing the info into the boxes, it is driving me insane

i am using archicad 13
Both ways, IS and element information will give the correct volume of the each site mesh.
I would like to learn how to include in IS the difference in volume between two sums. In this example it would give the excavated volume of earth.

I get you. You want to do the operations and show the cut and fill calcs. This would be nice but rather tricky since the variations would be significant. One way to do it would be to model the cut, fill and balance. Probably more trouble than it's worth though.

the way I do it is to model the existing site and then go to the Document Menu, Schedules and lists/Element List/Basic
This will give a volume for the existing site.
Copy the site to a new layer (say Site Model New) make the level changes, basements footings etc, select the new site and get the volume.
If the volume of the new site is greater than the existing site then I have to import this difference (fill) if its less then I am cutting this difference and I have to remove it from the site.

The output of the schedule initially directly reflects the scale of the floor plan. So if you want the schedule to be 1:50 then set this scale on the floor plan to 1:50 before you open the schedule. Then save the view and check that you have the correct scale and if not change it there.
As far as the colour in the schedule is concerned go to the Model view options and check (believe it or not) Override Cut fills
