You could have your consultant save their file as an archive (.PLA). This binds al the parts used into a single, albeit much larger, file. Then you would have the parts used on the project.

Alternately you can go to the library archives tr.graphisoftus.com/ and download the missing library complete

 Hello,

The symbol rotation should be taken into consideration too in addition to the mirroring.
For example;

Code:

if SYMB_MIRRORED = 0 then rot2 GLOB_NORTH_DIR -90 -SYMB_ROTANGLE
if SYMB_MIRRORED = 1 then rot2 -GLOB_NORTH_DIR +90 +SYMB_ROTANGLE
FRAGMENT2 1,1
del 1

Regards, Juha

laszlonagy wrote:

Code:

MUL2 A,B
ROT2 GLOB_NORTH_DIR-90
FRAGMENT2 1,1

This should work.
Two remarks:
1. This does not take into consideration the Mirror checkbox in the Object Settings Dialog.
2. I think GS recommends using GLOB_NORTH_DIR as Global variable name, and not using these older names like U~.

We are working on a project with a consultant that is using A10. We are using A12 and never had A10 so we don't have that library and a lot of parts are coming in as missing. i.e. doors windows, cabinetry. How can I get a copy of A10 Library or is there another way to do this?

Thanks,

 If I understand you correctly:

1. You can schedule the connector type as an additional parameter. This can be done in the standard scheduler.

2. You have to write a property script which calculates the number and types of connectors. This requires using the more complicated quantifier tools.

 Hi,

Well my question is tis,

I have made a costum GDL file, of different types of square steel tube connectors whish you can choose any of them before inserting it to the project,

1. Let´s say that I have A, B, C connectors (were the 3 different types are in the same file), how can archicad list the sum of A's or B's or C's connections, with there real name (whish was previously inserted inside the GDL file) ?

2. If I want to make a custom structure, where there was a number As, Bs and Cs connectors (whish were mentioned above):
a. How could these connecter counted in discriptors?
b. How can I get the total number of different connectors used even if some where used in costum structures?

In case you are disinclined to read through all the details of GUIDs...

The short answer is that ArchiCAD uses an internal ID to track the parts and not the file name. If you replace a part with a different one of the same name ArchiCAD will see it as different and you will get the dots.

I am guessing you did a "Save as" when you created the revised part and then replaced the original with the new one.

If you can't identify (or no longer have) the original part to re-revise you may be able to update the old instances to the new part with the syringe tool in the settings dialog.

 Hi,
I created a couple of GDL objects which other team members were happily using.

They then requested a tweak to the objects' code which I carried out. Unfortunately when I then replaced the objects on our server with the updated versions, the users were given the message 'Missing library part' and the original objects were replaced with black dots.

Why did this happen if I didn't change the name of the object (and simply overrode the original)? Does Archicad reference something other than the filename when looking for objects?

Any advice much appreciated!

Thanks,

Derek
2. If I want to make a custom structure, where there was a number As, Bs and Cs connectors (whish were mentioned above):
a. How could these connecter counted in discriptors?
b. How can I get the total number of different connectors used even if some where used in costum structures?

 Hi Everybody,

The request for March is done by Roelofs Architects from the Netherlands. She requested this directly by email so she won't be joining us on the forum. I will keep you posted though.
Her request is a particular suspending lighting fixture by manufacturer Philips which is used by Roelofs in her latest project.

Thanks. I think macros are the solution.
I have understood since last, that GDL is two different technologies,
and it's the other that has an interface to Phyton.

You can use Macro objects to act as functions as a work around as well. To demonstrate lets say you want a function that takes x and y values and returns x + y. To make this happen, create a library part of macro type with two parameters x and y. Then in your "function" object's main script have the following code...

Code:

EXIT x + y

Now, to call the function use the following code in another object

Code:

CALL "function" PARAMETERS x = x_value, y = y_value, RETURNED_PARAMETERS sum

Now the new object will have a variable, sum, which is assigned the value x_value+y_value since those were the values into x and y.

Also, where have you heard of a Python interface GDL? I haven't found anything of the sort but I would love to have access to them if possible.

Once you create your custom end panel you need to assign it the correct subtype. Then your custom panel will be available.

Looking at your post a second time, which part are you using that has the custom panel grayed out? Most of the AC 12 parts will give you an empty selection box if no custom components are available.

Perhaps you are using one that does not have this option and is grayed out until a custom component is available?

Oh, I see what you want.

To do this models your panel in 3D using slabs, walls, etc. Select just the panel elements and view them in 3D. Via the parallel projection settings, set the view to be perpendicular to the face of the panel that is to be the top. Select everything (remember only the panel elements should be in the 3D view) and then choose Save Custom Component... This is found under File>Library and Objects in my work environment. The option you need here is Custom Object Component. Select this option and then click "Choose". The part will then save to the folder/directory you select with the name you give it. After a few seconds, you should see a dialog saying that the part is now available to object that recognize it.

If you go back to your cabinet and select a custom end panel the custom panel parameter will again appear with the name of the component you just created added to the list of available panels.

In my brief experimentation with one of the stock AC cabinets, this works fairly well, in that the panel you just created is indeed added to the cabinet. However, I found that the cabinet doors are then distorted and extra lines are added to the front/rear elevations that are not desired. Depending on your need this may be acceptable or not. Unfortunately, there is not an easy fix for this in the object.

I hope this helps you.

Thanks for the tip/part. What I am actually looking for is the method to create a custom end panel. The custom panel menu is greyed out, but it shows a panel type "Cust_ajtolap1" thus, I think AC allows for the creation of a part that can be read by the kitchen cabinet part as an edge panel, but I can't figure out how to make one.

Thanks again to those who got me going on these custom listings. I think is this why I became an architect! No programming! Anyway, do you know of any way to copy these parameters between objects without having to reenter them in each object? Is there a cut and paste for these?

I have posted a panel object in the Depository (link at bottom of the main forum page - archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/object_depository.php?)
that I have used for such purposes. Feel free to give it a try. It might work for you. I use it with a cabinet object that I wrote that has adjustable scribe strips. I am not sure how well it will work if you use standard AC cabinets.
