Ability to read files that are in use

Hi all,

Reviving an old topic as a wish, though I appear to be unable to fine said topics...

Generally, the work around to being unable to read external files that are in use, is to set their update to manual and pick times to update when the file is not in use. This has been fine most of the time, but now I have been needing to reference dwgs with multiple layers of xrefs that are being frequently updated... I was previously saving duplicates of these files and binding them, but this has become more even tedious given their update rate... The issue with not doing this is trying to find a time when none of the xrefs are in use...

So the wish is for the ability for ArchiCAD to read files that are in use. As they are loading in as an external reference anyway, I do not see why they cannot be read as read only. OR is there some odd protocol in the coding preventing this?
